Day One

A Nile Sunset Cruise

Drive from Kampala or Entebbe to Murchison Falls NP.
Estimated journey time: 7 hrs

Enjoy some downtime relaxing at your exclusive riverside lodge, perched on the banks of the river Nile in the heart of Murchison Falls National Park. Refresh yourself by taking a dip in the swimming pool to escape the savannah heat and enjoy a cooling drink in the swimming pool bar. You can of course also unwind on the lodge’s communal terrace or retire to your room to relax on your balcony, offering views of the river Nile flowing by, to the sounds of hippo pods calling across the water.

Once the heat of the day recedes, unwind on a sunset water safari on the river Nile! Your skipper will guide you along the riverbanks as you relax to sounds of the savannah, with hippo pod calls echoing across the water and birds chattering amongst the swaying papyrus reeds. On the riverbanks you may spot elephants, waterbucks and crocodiles. While Pied Kingfishers hover and dive into the water around you and a flash of electric blue catches your eye from the Malachite Kingfishers darting along the river. As the sun begins to set the landscape will be lit with a beautiful warm glow, as you make way back to the docks.
Estimated excursion time: 1 hr 30 mins

Meals included: Lunch, Dinner

Accommodation: Paraa Safari Lodge, deluxe double room.

Day Two

A Boat Cruise and a Game Drive

Embark on a water safari to navigate the course of river Nile to the thundering base of Murchison Falls waterfall.  Also known as Kabalega Falls, this waterfall is the most iconic feature in the park and the river cruise offers fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities. As you meander upstream passing hippos pods lazing in the water, you’ll seek out crocodiles, buffalo, waterbuck and Uganda kob on the riverbanks. If you’re lucky you’ll also meet elephants bathing in the river to cool off from the heat of the day! A multitude of birds can be spotted including the Red-throated and Northern-carmine Bee-eaters nesting on the Nyamusika cliffs while performing a colourful display. On reaching the base of the falls you’ll marvel at the spectacle of the White Nile surging through a 7 metre wide gap in the rock face, cutting through Fajao Gorge and falling 43 meters into the river below, before it meanders off through the savannah plains of the park.
Estimated excursion time: 3 hrs.

Explore the Buligi game tracks which crisscross the savannah between the branches of the Victoria and Albert Nile in the northern sector of the park. These game circuits offer the highest density of wildlife viewing anywhere in the park. The landscape in the park is stunning offering views over the savannah, as you wind your way through Acacia scrub and grasslands dotted with palm trees. You’ll be joined by a knowledgeable Uganda Wildlife Authority guide, to give you your highest chance of tracking down the savannah predators. They will help you track down specific wildlife such as Rothschild giraffes, lions, hippos, elephants, herds of buffalo, Jackson’s hartebeest, bushbucks, Uganda kob, warthog, waterbuck and if you're lucky, you'll spot the elusive leopard. Towards the end of your game drive you’ll be able to stop off at the hippo pool on the Victoria Nile delta where you’ll see the hippos wallowing in the shallows and calling to each other across the water.
